The amount of your contribution, less any benefit you derive from the use of the complimentary pass, may be tax deductible
to you. Please consult your tax advisor.
3. What is the difference between ABSAF and the PTSO?
ABSAF, the Acton-Boxborough Student Activities Fund, is an organization that has been supporting extracurricular activities at the
regional schools since 1981. It was established to ensure a strong extracurricular program in times of fiscal constraint.
While ABSAF alone does not fund these activities (activity fees, gate receipts, and tax dollars are also used), ABSAF's
contribution has been and remains critical to the success of these programs. ABSAF's current Board of Directors is made up of members of the community, students, and
representatives from the Acton-Boxborough Regional School Administration.
The Regional Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is an organization whose purpose is to promote communication, offer programs, encourage volunteers, and serve the schools as needed. The PTSO raises funds, through dues and additional donations, to cover annual expenses of $25,000-30,000. Expenditures include grants to the Junior High and High School, graduation scholarships, programs such as Project Wellness, Freshman Orientation, and Project Graduation, the monthly PTSO newsletter and student directories. PTSO grants have provided guest speakers, subsidized field trip costs, printed school newspapers and magazines, and supported students' community service activities. The PTSO Board is made up of members representing parents and staff from the Junior and Senior High Schools.
