When and how was Acton first settled by the English?
In the 1650s, settlers in the Town of Concord asked the Commonwealth for a grant of land for sheep grazing. The Commonwealth also offered land grants to individuals. These land grants comprise the area, now known as Acton. The area was called Concord Village or The Grants.
Who was the first European to settle in Concord Village?
John Law, the Concord town shepherd, settled here in 1656. The first settler to live on his own land was John Shepard in 1661.
Were there Native Americans in Acton?
