Out-of-District
The Out-of-District Coordinator works directly with in-district Special Education TEAMs once a determination is made that a student's needs cannot be met in an in-district program. The Coordinator supports families through the process of school placement and makes referrals to the Department of Education approved special education schools. Once a student is placed in a school the Coordinator becomes the student's educational liaison and monitors the student's Individualized Educational Plan services and educational progress. Many students requiring out-of-district placements are able at some point in their education to return to in-district programs. When a TEAM decision is made that a student is able to access an in-district program the Coordinator works closely with school staff to provide a successful transition.
