Acton Public Schools 2012-2013 Preschool Application

Cover Letter

Thank you for your interest in the Acton Public Schools (APS) Preschool. Given the number of parents interested in enrolling their children for September 2012, admission for new students will occur through a lottery. The lottery will occur on February 18 and parents will be informed immediately in writing of the results. Please submit applications between January 3 and February 17 for inclusion in the lottery. Students who apply after February 17 will be added to the waiting list. Applications must include the application fee of $25 (checks to: Acton-Boxborough Regional School District). No applications will be accepted prior to January 3. Visits to the program may be arranged upon request. Children living in Acton may apply.

Located in bright attractive space at the Administration Building, this inviting early childhood program serves children, ages 3 to 5 years old. Children who are developing typically and those with identified special education needs both learn side by side. The curriculum is based on developmentally appropriate practices and the MA Early Learning Guidelines encouraging the growth of each child at his or her own individual pace. It is a fun place to play and learn!

Children must be three years old by September 1 to enroll. Three year old students attend school in the morning. Parents of four year old students have a choice of afternoon half day or full day classes. All classes meet four days per week, Monday-Thursday.

Parents are responsible for providing transportation for their children. Tuition is charged on a sliding fee scale. The full tuition rate for 2011-2012 is expected to be $310/month for half day and $601/month for full day. Information about the sliding fee scale is available upon request.
